Gym Journal
My friend Tracy sometimes comes over on Tuesday nights to hang out. Since my appointments today took too much time, he came with me to the gym tonight! It was fun to have a friend to not only keep me company but push me to try a little harder.
We started on the treadmill for 15 minutes plus cooldown. I started on 3.7mph and ended on 5.5mph, slightly more intense than yesterday but not so much that I couldn’t get through it. The goal today was to try and take a small step forward from my starting stats.

After the treadmill it was on to arm day! Tracy was a trooper and did pretty much everything I did side by side as we made our way from one end of the gym to another, one machine at a time. I appreciated that! I tried to increase the weight by 15 pounds from my starting weight at every machine but only made it through one set at the higher resistance. The other two sets I went back to the previous settings. (Pectoral Fly, Rear Deltoid, Row, Pulldown, Tricep Extension, Shoulder Press) The Pulldown did not sit well with my elbow injury near the end, but I finished strong. The Shoulder Press machine was still a beast at 25 pounds, so I thought I would give you a better idea of what is challenging me:

When we were done with arms, Tracy and I had a little plank-off! I made it to 1:20 which is the same as my past best time! Wahoo! Tracy made it to 1:25, so he didn’t totally wipe the floor with me. lol Those last 10 seconds were pretty rough today though. Afterward I attempted to add Russian Twists with the 6 pound medicine ball back into my routine like I used to do… This was not successful. I feel like a child’s rocking horse when I try to do them. My balance just isn’t where it needs to be, but I’m hoping after I’ve developed a little more muscle I can come back and try again.
Overall, I’m glad I brought a friend tonight! I’m also glad tomorrow is rest day! I’m also glad I got back to an 80 second plank! Overall I’m just feeling joyful tonight, hence the song recommendation for today. It’s nice to feel good about constructive, healthy effort. 🙂
